What is POMATL?
An estimated 40% of glass gets recycled when using single stream recycling. When we use City of Atlanta blue recycling bins we’re taking a chance on where our glass actually ends up (and parts of Dekalb don’t allow glass to be added at all). POMATL is looking to give you a peace of mind on exactly where your glass is going (SMI in College Park). We’ll provide as much transparency as possible on your empty beer bottle’s new life becoming a pickle jar, home insulation, or used in a new roadway.
Why Recycle Glass?
Glass is recyclable 100% of the time when recycled the right way. Recycling conserves energy, reduces air and water pollution, reduces greenhouse gases, and conserves natural resources. When you sign up for a monthly package with POMATL we’ll keep tally on exactly how much glass you save from going to the landfills. Glass may live there for a million years so let’s do any future dinosaurs a favor and recycle it while we can.
How Can I Recycle Glass?
You can keep doing single stream recycling (where allowed) and hope the glass finds its way to the recycling center. Unfortunately things like this happen and it’s extremely frustrating to say the least. A potential solution is to BYOG to drop off locations here. Or you can hire us to pick up the glass straight from your home. Please note we only accept common grocery store items like bottles & jars.
Don’t use plastic, use glass! Glass is infinitely recyclable so we can recycle it a million times instead of only 2-3 times with plastic. For example baby food, beer, dips, honey, jellies, kombucha, liquor, olives, oils, peanut butter, pickles, salad dressings, salsa, sauces, soda, soups, vinegar, wine, yogurts all come in glass containers or bottles.
